Recently, it has been almost impossible to miss the sight of wooden horses, dolphin, Istrian cow, centaur, and owl on Slavonska avenija. The artists behind the sculptures are five brothers from the Arteco Pavletić Association who decided to show their skill to the people of Zagreb, coming all the way from Lužani near Slavonski Brod.
These artist from Slavonia have been making sculptures for maybe a year, and they use waste wood, vine and olive trees in particular. They use metal structure to secure the sculpture, and the park in Zagreb displays about 20 sculptures.
- The largest exhibit in the park is a 400 kilo horse that took an entire vineyard to build - explained Zdenko Pavletić. The brothers and two more men from Krk have decided to establish and association to connect ecology with art and cultural heritage.
- The next three months we will have an exhibition here, and the public will be able to enjoy the sculptures, but at the same time, we will be working on new sculptures to show at the Christmas Park in Advent - said Zoran Pavletić.
- By then, we plan to build a stall, the Holy Family, and the Holly Three Kings, and to install lights to complete the setup - said Marinko Pavletić.
Arteco is a non-profit association depending on donations, so ROX decided to support the association by providing the location for the exhibit.
